Clear Lake is California's largest natural freshwater lake. Lakes have existed at this site for at least 2.5 million years. The lake is surrounded by scenic mountains in the shadow of Mt. Konocti, an extinct volcano.
The waters of Clear Lake support large populations of largemouth bass, channel and white catfish, crappie, bluegill, carp and the native fish known as hitch. Sometimes called the bass capital of the West, the lake is known for it's quality bass with trophy fish over 10 lbs. Any cast at Clear Lake could result in the fish of a lifetime.
Clear Lake has such great fishing, ESPN hosts a fishing show here on a regular basis. (Click Here for the results).
The current lake record for largemouth bass stands at 17.52 pounds and is waiting to be broken. Could you be the one? There are also a few great local guides if you need a hand.
We've also had guests land some pretty terrific cat fish right from our dock. Fishing off the dock is a popular pass time for many guests and we've got a barbecue ready for those who land a cat fish.

Bob Myseky is a great local guide who both knows the lake and is fun to spend time with. If you'd like a hand finding the fish or just getting a great tour of Clear Lake, make a reservation with Bob - he'll take good care of you. Start with Bob's Bass Fishing Web Site.
Puddle Duck Rowboats
Over winter of 2013 we've been building little row boats called puddle ducks. These little two-person boats are great fun to row through Rodman Slough or just out on the Lake and you can rent them exclusively at the Featherbed Railroad. Rental rates are just $20 for an hour or take one out for half a day for just $45.
Kayak Adventures
A peaceful way to enjoy the lake or even get some fishing in is by kayak. Kayak Adventures in Lucerne offers new Ocean Kayaks that provide a very stable way to enjoy California's largest natural fresh water lake.
From kayaks to patio boats, Disney's Boat Rental has what you're looking for. Their fleet is well maintained and the staff is courteous.
The crew at On The Waterfront in Lakeport offer a wide selection of clothing, water skis and other gear to outfit your crew so that they'll be safe, comfortable and stylish on the water. On The Waterfront also has boats available as well as jet skis. (707) 263-6789
Boat Tours
If you want to leave the driving to others, you can join a tour of the Lake. The Indian Beach Resort offers guided boat tours that slant toward fishing with hosts Tony and Ken offering great fishing tips but also some good insight into the Lake and its history.
There's also Eyes of the Wild, operated by professional photographers JW Shipley & Faith Rigolois. These tours are fantastic and some even feature professional Native American music Kevin Village Stone.
Before You Put In...
If you're planning on bringing a boat to Clear Lake remember that we're working hard to keep it clear - particularly of invasive species like Quagga Mussels. There is a website dedicated to this which will explain what you'll need before you come and while you're enjoying this beautiful natural resource. Check out the boating information website today - then get your boat up here and enjoy some fishing, water skiing or just natural beauty.
