The Clear Lake area's history of tourism goes back to the 1800s when our local wines combined with a huge number of hot springs resorts to create a destination that people sought-out and spent their entire summer enjoying. Of course, in those days, doctors would actually prescribe the waters of certain resorts to cure a variety of ailments.
Today we prescribe a number of the local hot springs destinations as a cure for city-itis. You know, suffering from too many people all trying to do the same things at the same time.
