The weather is starting to turn into an invitation to spend some time outdoors and we have quite a selection of things to do under the sun and the stars in Lake County. However, not many people know how many equestrian options there are here.
While we're not ones to brag, we would like to shine the spot light on one of our neighbors, Gene Kirkendall, who recently won first place at the 6th Annual Art of the Cowboy Makers Contest in Las Vegas, a national competition for contemporary crafters of bits and spurs, boots, rope cans, chaps, hats, rope bags and saddles as reported in the Record-Bee.
If you'd like to spend time in the saddle we're very happy to arrange day trips at several of our local equestrian neighbors. You'll probably not spend time in that fancy saddle, but the scenery will be outstanding and there are some great horse trails in Lake County.
The Lake County Horse Council is a great place to start if you want to do some horsing around, so to speak.
