Our tandem bicycles have always been a curiosity for guests. While many people think about taking one out for a ride, they are a bit intimidating for people. After all, they're about twice the size of a regular bicycle and there's always a chance that the person on the back is just relaxing with their feet up not doing any pedaling.
A combination of wear and just being outdoors had taken its toll on our tandem bicycles so we weren't really proud of them any longer. We had had them worked on very recently and the results were less than spectacular. We had actually considered just donating them to a charity - maybe they would make a great conveyance for a couple of deserving folks.
Then we stopped in at a new bicycle shop on Main Street in Lakeport. Main Street Bicycles is a really, really cool shop with lots of bicycles, of course, but also lots of paraphernalia from little tootie horns to energy bars to bicycle seats, lights and much more. The nice thing is that when you get something there they'll make sure it's installed and working properly - take that, Internet.

After speaking with Jeff & Tami Cramer they offered to come over and check our double two-wheelers out to see what they needed.
Turns out the list was pretty long but we figured that if we get them all spiffed up, you might really enjoy a spin around the area on a bicycle built for two.
So the work commenced and tires, seats, grips and other parts were replaced on the bikes. At the same time a third tandem showed-up on the property and got the once-over, too.
There was new grease for the chains and a general adjusting of this and that.
One of the coolest aspects of this shop is that they also lead bicycle rides on Saturday mornings. On their website there are a bunch of maps to bicycle trails in the area and more. For bicyclists this is definitely a bicyclist's bike shop - a lot nicer than a row of cheap imported bikes at the big box store to be sure.
Now you and your sweetie can hop aboard a bicycle built for two and maybe even whistle this song.
