![]() The best part of owning a Bed & Breakfast for June & Paul are the people. With guests coming from all over the world, it’s an amazing chance to meet wonderful people who bring their journeys to share. Recently a lot of motorcycles brought a lot of wonderful people including Ed and Robin. ![]() Ed and Robin rolled in to the Featherbed Railroad after having traveled 3800 miles thus far. They rode from New Hampshire on a much needed break from their very busy lives as the owners of two RV resorts. This was the first time in 30 years of owning their resorts that they could get away on a trip. And boy, what a trip! Ed and Robin came to us by motorcycle having traveled across these United States and the journey had almost just begun. After leaving here they were headed east, slowly making their way back home via the southern route. It was so nice getting to meet them, and share stories. While on the subject of motorcycles this past weekend we had our second annual fund raising event with the Fire Forged Motorcycle Club of Upper Lake. That event started early in the morning with a pig roast on two giant barbecues while members of the club and the public came in, checked in, and headed out for a poker run around Clear Lake. It all culminated with a band and a DJ along with some incredible barbecued pork sold to the public as a fund raiser for survivors of the Clayton fire. Our first weekend wearing the engineer’s caps at the Featherbed Railroad was the inaugural weekend of this event last year and this year it was bigger and better. What a way to learn about the people and motorcycle enthusiasts in the area - trial by fire!
In the next few months we’ve got quite a few groups staying with us, from car clubs to family reunions to more riders from Thunder Roads. Groups have it made with our picnic grounds, barbecue space and plentiful parking. But the people from Fire Forged MC along with lots of other friends we’ve made through our relationship with Thunder Roads Northern California shows just why we’re so thrilled to be a bike-friendly lodging property. And people like Ed and Robin are what make having a Bed and Breakfast Resort so much fun. Written by Anthony B. Barthel
