Recently Lake County’s Certified Tourism Ambassadors™ (CTA) got to descend on Lake County’s only 18-hole miniature golf course and all reported having a great time. Tatonkaland, an historic miniature golf course in Clearlake, offers a great deal of value by providing 18 holes of golf for just $5 in a fun setting.
The best part of owning a Bed & Breakfast for June & Paul are the people. With guests coming from all over the world, it’s an amazing chance to meet wonderful people who bring their journeys to share. Recently a lot of motorcycles brought a lot of wonderful people including Ed and Robin.
Every tourism destination craves attention in a crowded field, especially today with so many messages coming at us from all over. But the three devastating fires that we had in September weren’t exactly the national media exposure we wanted only because there are over 1300 people who would probably prefer that their homes are still intact. But a question that we get is very simple: why should I come to Lake County and spend my valuable vacation time? Isn’t most of everything burned down?
The simple answer is: no. The fact is all of the businesses and services a visitor to Lake County could be interested in are still standing. None of our wineries burned down, only a very few restaurants at the south end of the County were damaged and there are still many thousands of acres of beautiful wild lands for those seeking an incredible outdoor adventure.
If you enjoy studying trends and habits of people then you’ll know that brides, in particular, are choosing remote locations for destination elopements. While destination honeymoons have long been popular, destination weddings with a few close friends are now equally in vogue. For those looking for a very special place for their very special events, the Featherbed Railroad may be just the ticket.
One a very busy weekend recently we had three very special and different celebrations that demonstrate just how different this incredible place can be, depending on the type of event that you’re looking to host.
The terrific weather that we’ve been enjoying thanks to an early spring doesn’t only mean that you can bring a pair of short pants on your visit to the Featherbed Railroad. It also means that flowers and plants are happier earlier in the year as well with some spectacular shows of colors by the plants both on property and off.
One of the highlights of spring are Anne Garner’s Spring Wildflower Tours on her Eleven Roses Ranch in Long Valley.
Recently the County challenged a number of Lake County wedding professionals to come up with a unique vision for a wedding. Our challenge was to come up with some ideas for a vintage wedding - and boy did we do so. So, if you would follow us back in time, we'd love to take you on a journey through a very special wedding day that will happen in the past - during the time of Prohibition...
The Featherbed Railroad has been a popular spot for group getaways for some time; however, we've really picked up on the number of groups that come stay with us recently. In response, we've stepped up our own game to improve the experience our group guests have.
Just this past weekend two groups stayed with us - a car club and a family reunion. This gave us a chance to exercise some of Tony's decades of experience in the event planning business.
We are able to arrange some nifty packages and journeys and even group discounts. We've got some great ideas for keeping your group entertained while they're here.
Furthermore, if you're doing a team building or business getaway we are thrilled to work with you to put together team building exercises either right here on the property or around the area.
