Over the past seven years there have been more and more groups that come to the Featherbed Railroad here in Northern California's wine country and we love them. In particular, we’ve had quite a few car clubs as well as motorcycle clubs who find us to be a great group destination retreat. Of course you can’t forget wedding parties, family reunions, business and company retreats and others. With our newly-revamped picnic grounds there are lots of options for taking advantage of the beautiful setting the mother nature has established here.
The terrific weather that we’ve been enjoying thanks to an early spring doesn’t only mean that you can bring a pair of short pants on your visit to the Featherbed Railroad. It also means that flowers and plants are happier earlier in the year as well with some spectacular shows of colors by the plants both on property and off.
One of the highlights of spring are Anne Garner’s Spring Wildflower Tours on her Eleven Roses Ranch in Long Valley.
We have the coolest guests! Train people, newlyweds, surprised partners, and a whole range of others that we get to spend a little time with and enjoy their company.
Christina and Steve were some of those ultra-cool people that we took to right away. As an added bonus, before they left, Christy left me a couple of her Haunted Souvenir Shop Mysteries. I dove right in, and loved the stories right from the start. What’s not to love? A strong, independent woman, a little trouble, a mystery, and a parrot! Plus those southern dinner recipes! Oh, yum!!!
The typical winter weather in Lake County features plenty of rain and some chilly days, but this winter it's more like spring with daytime temperatures into the 60s and nighttime temps in the snuggly 40s. It's been really, really great weather. So while, like a shot in the butt, we need the rain, we might as well enjoy this great weather while we're having it. The following article, lifted from the County's website, highlights great things to do outdoors.
